Apply for a library card

    1. Apply for a library card online. Go to our Library Account Login page and click on "New User" button.
       You'll need to show us some form of picture ID when you first use the card in the library.

    2. Fill out a library card application form at our library or any of the other MLC libraries.
       All of the MLC libraries' cards can be used at UCPL.

    Things you have to bring in with you when you come in for a new card.


Renew my library card

    Every two years, your card will need to be renewed. All that means is that we update your address, phone number, email address, etc. in our records. You can come in at your convenience to renew your card. Call us if you need more assistance.


Request a book from other libraries

    1. If the books you want are in any other MLC library, you can "Request a hold on a library item" online in our catalog.
    2. If the books you want are not in our catalog, you can do an interlibrary loan. To do an ILL(interlibrary loan),patron must
        live in University City and have a valid University City Library card;
        come in to library to fill out an ILL request and pay $1 per request. ILL forms are available at the circulation desk.

    3. If the books you want are in any member library of the St. Louis Regional Library Network, you can get an INFO-PASS at the reference desk. To be able to request an INFO-PASS, patron must
        live in University City and have a valid University City Libary card;
        come in to the library with the library card to request the INFO-PASS at the reference desk.


Suggest that the library buy a book

    If the book you want is not in our catalog, you can make a purchase suggestion by filling out the purchase suggestion form in person at the library. The forms are available at the circulation desk.
      NOTE: The purchase suggestion does not guarantee that we will buy the book. A collection development librarian will review the book being suggested carefully to see whether it will fit in the libray's collection.


Sign up for a computer class or event at the library

    All computer classes and events are free of charge unless specified.
      
      Events do not need to be registered for unless specified.


Use computers and wireless in library
top
    University City Public Library does offer free computer access and wireless access to patrons. A library card is requried to use a computer or wireless. All public access computers must be checked out at the circulation desk before being used. Vistors must present a picture ID to get a visitor's pass at the reference desk.
